Managing Diversity
Managing diverse teams presents specific challenges to managers; helping each individual maximise their potential whilst providing unbiased support and guidance. By completing Managing Diversity managers learn about:
* the benefits of a diverse team
* giving feedback across a cultural divide
* support and supervision for diverse teams
* avoiding bias in management
* robust management not bullying
Fair Selection
Recruitment and selection of staff is one of the most costly processes undertaken by managers, finding the best person for a role depends on effective and fair processes. Participants learn how to address diversity in:
* writing job descriptions and person specifications or role profiles
* advertising
* carrying out monitoring and using monitoring information
* short listing and interviewing
* implementing positive action
Planning for Diversity
This unit is aimed at those with strategic roles or those who have responsibility for policy development. This is likely to include board members, elected members and non-executive directors of organisations in the private, public and voluntary sectors. Planning for Diversity covers the following topics:
* mainstreaming as a concept
* the role of monitoring
* representation and consultation
* impact assessment |
